Chateau de Mores

History Alive! at Chateau de Mores - History Alive! programs explore the lives and times of local residents from decades gone by, combining theater arts with history. The 20-minute monologues are based on original letters, diaries, and other documents, many from the archives of the State Historical Society of North Dakota. This free program is presented on the porch of the Chateau Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. from June through August.

Cowboy Hall of Fame

The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame, along with its Center of Western Heritage & Cultures, serves as the interpretive hub for the history of the northern plains and North Dakota’s western lifestyle, offering visitors an immersive look into the unique plains horse culture and the experiences of Native Americans, homesteaders, ranchers, and world-class rodeo cowboys. Opened in 2005 through the dedication and contributions of its members, the facility features a theater, galleries, interpretive areas, artifacts, and memorabilia focused on preserving this rich heritage. At its heart is the Hall of Honorees, which pays tribute to the men, women, events, and livestock that have made extraordinary contributions to the state’s culture, lifestyle, and lasting legacy.

Harold Schafer Museum

Harold Schafer, North Dakota’s most famous businessman, led a life unlike any other. The Harold Schafer Heritage Center & Museum is the perfect place to learn his story—from Mr. Bubble to Medora! Once you’ve strolled through the Heritage Center, take a breather out on the patio and relax in our beautiful garden area. You’ll find peace, inspiration, and amazing stories at the Harold Schafer Heritage Center!

The Teddy Roosevelt Show With Brunch

Start your day the TR way. Enjoy endless coffee and a full brunch buffet while Theodore Roosevelt comes to life to share stories from his time in the Badlands, his rise to the White House, and everything in between.
Hear about Roosevelt’s first visit to Medora on a bison hunt, his days ranching in the Dakota Territory, his run-in with the Mingusville Bully, and his pursuit of the “Boat Thieves.” From the Rough Riders to life on the frontier, this live portrayal captures the grit, humor, and determination that shaped a president.
