Maah Daah Hey Trail
A 144-mile non-motorized trail open for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The trail begins at Sully Creek State Recreation Area, approximately five miles south of historic Medora, and meanders north through the South and North units of Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the Little Missouri National Grassland.

Twilight Stroll
Location: The Wind Canyon Trail, Scenic Loop Road, Medora, ND 58645
Join Theodore Roosevelt National Park’s Dark Rangers for a guided hike by moonlight. As the moon rises, its soft, luminous glow will wash over the rugged badlands, transforming dramatic rock formations into surreal, shadow-draped sculptures, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening on the trail.

Description: Explore the historic ranch area by attending one of the many programs offered today. Stop by to view the bison exhibit or dress up as a junior explorer and take a selfie at the photo station. A variety of activities are available for all ages.

Escape the crowds and experience the rugged beauty and solitude of the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, located approximately 50 miles north of Medora along ND Highway 85. This less-visited part of the park rewards visitors with dramatic landscapes, wildlife sightings, and unforgettable views.
Nature enthusiasts and casual hikers can explore the park’s trails, from gentle nature paths to backcountry routes like Buckhorn, Caprock Coulee, and Achenbach, which traverse the park’s vast wilderness. Wildlife viewing is a highlight—bison roam the scenic drive, mule deer appear at dawn and dusk, and careful observers may spot bighorn sheep along cliff edges or prairie dogs on a short hike.
